A Postitive Second Outing

Charlotte Moss

This was only the second league match for the newly formed L3s and, despite an absence of training in the week, the mood was confident. It was an early start but not too long a drive to Ely. The Ely captain had also formed a team of players very new to a full match format but despite this the opposition started strongly.

The first half was very even with both sides having good periods of passing, but at times South were caught in defence by the very young legs of some of the Ely players. Lou G in defence kept calm and was able to clear the ball to link up some great play with Chani who had a very impressive first match!

The second half started very brightly, matching the weather which made the morning rather muggy. South's marking was much improved which meant Ely were unable to break as they had done in the first half. There were some great interceptions which created some shots on goal by South but were well cleared by the Ely defence. There were also a number of short corners, which were also not capitalised on by South.

This was a good performance from South against a very evenly matched team.

Well done L3s!
