City strike back

John Greaves

Things looked ominous when the mixed band of Cambridge South players arrived at St Johns to see City 5ths mid-way through their warm up / practice / bonding routine with their small army of coaches.

Appearances can be deceptive, but not this time.

South held out for about 15 mins, with dogged defence, all trying to follow the example of star man Tom Rosselli in never giving up, battling for the ball, and trying to get the ball forwards. Then City scored. Five times.

Then it was half time, following which South kept the City hordes at bay for another fifteen mins. Then City scored...another five times.

Everyone on the Cambridge South side kept on trying until the end, closing down the sharper, more skilful City slickers, and showing glimmers when allowed to have the ball. But superior opposition meant that this was another tough lesson for the 4ths in a higher league than many are used to.
