The (missed) 6:20am train from Blackpool

Maddy Barker

It started a sunny day in Blackpool for Maddy, who was so excited for the Cambridge south v st Ives match that she wore her hockey kit to bed. The rest of Cambridge south ladies 1s woke with a twinkle in their eyes as Maddy started the second leg of her journey.

3 hrs later…
Eagerly waiting for the rest of the team to arrive the Ladies 1s discussed tactics, game plans and routines.
FINALLY the last stragglers came through the st Ives outdoor one leisure doors, and the team headed to the track for an immensely important warmup.

The game
One early goal from st Ives lead to a tough battle but we prevailed and Laura Ludlow scored a goal. Final whistle score 1-1, with Anna winning over the team as man of the match for some amazing tackles, positioning and runs and Maddy Barker as lemon for reasons undisclosed*.

*note from the captain: for reasons disclosed, see Awards section.
