Battling Bourne Deeping and our own injuries

Tess Skyrme

The L3s worked really hard to try and take some points off Bourne Deeping this week, sadly it was not to be.

Plagued by a smattering of illnesses and injuries - the squad was a little worse for wear. Despite this we got off to a great start. Tims advice to focus on intensity was paying off, and the opposition also struggled to break down our press. We won a lot more one one one battles than last week, and everyone worked really hard for each other. This was especially the case for this weeks MOM Erin who did a stellar job in defence despite usually being a forward.

At half time were 1-1 and feeling optimistic. We crammed down some tangfastics for some much needed energy - and went out again.

However the second half was a real battle. Rhi and Tiff both took a tumble - leading to some LOM votes. But really no one was a LOM in this match - and even though the latter half of the game saw a few more goals conceded - this doesn’t reflect the standard of hockey on the pitch.

Positive takeaways from the game include Steph’s stunning goal, well executed short corner routines but mostly an impressively relentless display of defending. Fabulous saves from Mia, great commitment from the back 4 and wonderful support from the inners. Bring on next week!
