M1 3-3 Ipswich & East Suffolk Mens 1

Tom Rosselli

Five minutes in, all looking good so far, the transfers are quick, there's good movement in the middle and link-up play is working so far. An aerial comes long from the IES 16, it's picked but not cleanly, the follow up pass sneaks through and the reverse hit finds the top corner. Alright not the best start. Unfortunately that was IES' only open-play shot on target.

The game continues much as if the goal had never come, South continue to pressure, IES continue to fling the aerials the full length of the pitch. A couple of circle penetrations find the odd foot or draw a foul, but the short corners can't produce the intended result. Until, the injection finds Harry Lewis at second castle, on his 100th game for the M1s, He bangs the ball home bottom left, South equalise. I've not see that routine at training.

Half-time chat, the gist is we should probably be doing better. Second half starts off well, South are in control, a narrative for much of the season so far. Contolling the game across the pitch with some brilliant movement, and just lacking with the final shot on goal, We are flattering the IES keeper with some easy shots, or sometimes missing the goal completely. Eventually a well worked ball round the back, up the right and back into the middle sees an opening for Pearson to smash home his first of the season, comments of "you didn't have to hit it that hard", 2-1. A couple more desperate chances and we could've put the game to bed but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Lapses in concentration, a green for Chalk, yellow for Rosselli. IES grab a short and drag it home to equalise. A brief pause because... it was raining? Nat re-focuses the team, We continue in the rain. The final minutes see South piling on the pressure, the pitch opens up and chances are plentiful, With 5 minutes to go, another series of shorts ends with Oscar burying a short bottom right  3-2. we just need to hold on. IES get another short. Scott makes a goal line block. It's looking good, but South are desperately defending in the D, the whistle goes, another short and one last drag flick for IES to equalise.

3-3

Smear campaign, deliberately tripping up our own player... Just generally not a nice guy
