M1 1-3 Cambridge Nomads Mens 1

Jack Humby-Smith

The M1s were pumped and ready to end their poor run of post-christmas results against a side they cruised past 5-0 earlier in the season. But the Nomads fixture is never easy...

The game started well with the M1s looking to control possession and pin nomads in by transferring the ball high up the pitch. But Nomads struck from their first chance, an aimless aerial that deflected through to their CF who luckily reversed it top bins.

Undeterred, the lads kept pushing, creating chances and winning lots of short corners. From one of these short corners, Scott Catley, having completed the necessary GCSE trigonometry calculations, masterfully aimed the ball off a defenders stick that then perfectly looped over the keeper and nestled in the net. Very clever, Scott!

Back at 1-1 and with their first goal in 3 games, the boys tried to do more goals, but alas couldn't. With a lacklustre second half performance and Nomads pouncing after a couple of unforced errors, the game finished 3-1. They must've been boring goals because I can't remember them.

The M1s winless and cursed #purplereign of the IG era continues... (spolier alert, skip ahead 2 weeks to the Bury game for the lifting of the curse!)
