Ed Greedy hungry for goals

A 2.30 game at long road against Cambridge vets! What a tantalising prospect... and therein lay my first error of the day. The heady prospect of glory in front of the home crowd had addled my ability to navigate the depths of spond and find the true location of the game. I arrived at the pitch ready for jovial pre match banter with my team mates. Alas there were no m2s to be found. In their place, a gleeful Sam Highfield who was only too happy to inform me I should be at Wilberforce road. With the scent of citrus thick in the air I continued my extended tour of Cambridge fully warmed up for the game.
With lemon sealed the team were able to relax and focus on the game ahead. A strong south team took to the pitch and we quickly had the wily vets under pressure. The first goal came after 10 minutes of patient play from south, Dimi and Will broke down their defence and the ball found its way into the net! 1-0!
From then on we entered the Creedy show. A period of the game in which south dominated and Ed continually terrified the Cambridge defence. South attacked well and put many dangerous balls into the D with Chris Pearson a constant threat. Ed Greedy was hungry for goals and with hitherto unseen pace and guile he pounced with 4 goals. 2 either side of the half. It was a whirl of stick play and and goal scoring prowess that left us wondering where he has been all season!
At 5-0 the vets started to tire and with no let up from south the goals kept flowing. Strong distribution from the back, exciting 3d play from Mr Richer and excellent team hockey ensured we ended 7-0!
