A return to form

Paresh Parsot

After the latest training session the lads were keen to try out their mid air bounce strikes and one of the members was so keen that he turned up an hour before push back (think he was keen to discuss the rugby). After the short warm up and pass around the lads were plumped for the occasion and there no signs of rain which was a bonus. Although the wind was a factor as we facing against it in the 1st half.

The lads played well, passing the ball around and using the width nicely, there was little requirement for the long balls as the midfielders gelled together keeping the ball on their sticks.  Any signs of the nomads attack were stopped by the experienced defence. The forwards made quick attacking runs and were dangerous in the D.

The short corner routines worked well with a high success rate leading to 5 goals in total. There were a couple of open field goals attributed by slick triangular passing opening up the gaps in the nomads defence and south pushing up in numbers (the lads learnt something from training). A p flick was a bonus just to show the spectators the different types of goals that can be scored. My favourite was the reverse strike into the corner of the goal. Special mention must go to old woody who kept himself together and unleashing his power when required.

Overall a very good win for the lads with the final score ending up 8-2. Nomads could have scored more but the south keeper made numerous top class saves to keep them at bay.

One last game left in the season and the lads will want to carry on with the momentum and maybe try out a few over the shoulder mid air bounce strikes!
