Getting too old for this

Emma Julian

So two games in one weekend came as a shock to us all after previous weeks of games be cancelled and our Tuesday nights training also been cancelled due to the baltic conditions of late!

Nevertheless, the girls made their way to Ipswich, battered bodies included. We knew it was going to be a tough game given that Ipswich were sitting top with City - however the motto from the get go was to just have fun and enjoy getting some game play in.

The first 10 minutes got off to a cracking start and the girls were all putting in a great shift - Ipswich were taken back by this I’m sure! However, this did then lead to them stepping up their game and after about 20 minutes came the first goal.

Despite excellent work from all the girls, in particular Jenny T for her determined defensive work, it wasn’t enough to keep Ipswich at bay and by half time it was 0-3.

That being said, we went back out and fought hard in the second half, and definitely deserved a goal or 2! Ipswich only got one more goal in the second, which goes to prove how well the girls worked.

Alas it wasn’t to be, but from what I hear, the teas this week were a delightful mix of curry and chilli and went down well by all!

I don’t remember much else of the game, which also sums up why I'm this weeks LOM. I also didn’t remember what time the game started, and despite believing I pitched up bang on time, actually saw me half an hour late to the party!!

Shout out to the whole team for a cracking effort, special thanks to the girls from the L2s for stepping up so well and especially Jenny T, our well deserved POM :-)
