M2 1-1 Cambridge City Mens 3

Mariano Rosenzvaig

So, here's the lowdown on our latest showdown against Cambridge City 3s. After showing the unbeaten league leaders what we're made of last week, making them look a very approachable side, we were ready to rock and roll again. No on-field training thanks to the chilly weather, but shoutout to the new home game camera and Cal's detective work – we had a killer video session.

We hit up Wilby in force, cheering on the 1s and then warming up like we were about to break the sound barrier. The game kicked off, and both teams took turns making hopeful attempts. City 3s had some flashy moves, but our defenders were playing the floor-is-lava game like pros.

Between the 23-meter lines, the tackles got spicier, and the umpires felt the need to drop some rule reminders like they were our personal coaches. First half wrapped up, and the score was still a big fat zero for both sides. Cue the dramatic drumroll for halftime.

Second half kicked off, and City 3s started poking holes in our defense with a bit more gusto. They managed to sneak one past Stan, and suddenly we were 1-0 down with 15 minutes left. Right after that, I got a green card for a tackle softer than a kitten's fur and giving me the lemon. Maybe paying for the team's past sins – who knows?

Down a man and a goal, things were looking uphill. But we said, "Nah, this game ain't over," and we kept pushing. I didn't catch the exact moment, but Ed C banged in a goal from close range with less than two minutes on the clock. We snagged a point from those talented City 3s lads. Who knew math could be so thrilling?

We're a work in progress, tweaking a few things here and there. The goals will come – mark my words. Heads up for the next game, where we plan to paint the town with a big, fat W and keep this 2024 party rolling!

PS, honorable mention to Cal´s red full monty trousers. I still don´t believe that he didn´t get more lemon votes for bringing the 80s memorabilia to the pitch!
