The acrobat, the stick swapper and Jan – An M5 tale

Justin Lecher

In what was undoubtedly the season's pinnacle match, our team faced a critical juncture. The stakes couldn't have been higher: securing three vital points to escape the looming shadow of relegation. Despite a valiant effort, the objective slipped through our fingers, leaving us to hope for winning the final game of the season and a favourable shift in goal difference to steer us clear.

The Acrobat: After winning the LOM last week, Justin did it again. In this match, he outdid himself by drawing a foul from the opposition's goalkeeper, performed an exaggerated series of rolls, making the umpires' decision straightforward. However, his penalty flick left much to be desired, prompting a jest that even a grandmother could have thwarted the attempt. We know you can do better... The Lemon was well deserved for this.

The Stick Swapper: But there was a close runner up. Matt L entertained with a mid-match stick exchange, mimicking the antics of a seasoned professional. His dash from the pitch, baffling the substitutes, and the smooth acquisition of a new stick was a spectacle. Whether it impacted the game remains debatable, but it was a memorable moment that highlighted his ingenuity.

Then, there's Jan. For those who've missed the updates, Jan's recent form has been nothing short of spectacular. After a hiatus of five years without scoring, he's now netted goals in three consecutive games, marking the best scoring run for any M5 player this season. His resurgence is a testament to his perseverance and skill.

Besides that, we saw greatly improved performance on the South side, lots of ball movement, more than 3 passes in a row, learnings from training taken into the game, and positivity. Well done boys. On the flip side, aerials across the forward and midfield can break necks and have led to 3 easy goals for Wisbech.

The M5s are on track and start showing their potential.
