Mixed Team lose to Saffron Walden
Cambridge South Mixed XI 0 - 3 Saffron Walden
H/T: 0 - 2
Scorers: None
MoM: Leo Tomita (Anchored the centre as a rock on which many of the Walden attacks foundered.)
LOM: Jack Chalk (For failing to understand the MoM voting system.)
The mixed team played a talented Saffron Walden side and had to produce a backs to the wall effort to come away with only a three goal deficit. The first half started fairly evenly but it was Walden that came out ahead when a quick break was put away at a narrow angle by one of their forwards. A second followed shortly afterwards. Whilst South were able to have some good attacks they couldn't convert.
The second half was more lopsided in terms of play with Saffron Walden having the majority of the pressure and only a few odd breaks from South. Despite this the defence was resolute and it rewarded with a clean sheet for half until Walden finally managed to score with 3 seconds left in the game.
Team played: Shahbaz Ali, Louise Gutteridge, Leo Tomita, Julie Sadler, John Parker, Kev Rowland, Wilco Dijkstra, Vicky Lavis, Jack Chalk, Harriet Gay, James Raikes, Charlie Orrock
