Mixed League Rules

Normal rules of hockey apply with the following additions.

  1. There are 2 Groups in the League in which clubs play each other twice. 3 points are awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw. In the event of teams being tied on points then places are determined by order of goal difference, then goals scored, then away points and finally by drawing of lots.
  2. The home side is the first named team. The away side must change their kit if there is a colour clash.
  3. It is the home team’s responsibility to arrange the pitch and inform the opposition no later than 2 weeks before the match.
  4. Games are provisionally arranged for the first Sunday of the months: September/October/November, February/ March/ April. These dates are provisional so games can be re-arranged to suit the teams taking part. The league manager must be informed of any changes.
  5. If a team cancels a fixture less than 2 days before the match (i.e. no later than the Friday before the Sunday) then it may be liable for the cost of the pitch hire.
  6. Teams should limit their selection of players to:
    • Goalkeepers: No restrictions
    • Men: No more than 2 players on the pitch at one time who usually play for teams in East League Division 1 or above.
    • Ladies: No players from teams above East League 1.
  7. Players from teams in higher divisions may be selected if both captains agree prior to the game.
  8. Teams should be made up of 5 men and 5 female players plus a goalkeeper of either gender, unless otherwise agreed between the two captains.
  9. Each team must provide an umpire, preferably level one or above. If this is not possible, a non-qualified umpire (e.g. a substitute) may be used as long as both teams agree beforehand.
  10. A lady must take first strike at short corners.
  11. All results, team sheets, scorers and cards, must be emailed by the home team to Benedikz82(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk as soon as possible after the match.
