Mixed Team lose to a strong City side.
Cambridge South Mixed XI 1 - 5 Cambridge City
H/T: 1 - 3
Scorers: Graham McCulloch
MoM: Ron Oren (Played as GK and made some fantastic saves)
It was a well fought battle yesterday despite the score line. In the beginning it was evenly matched between the 2 teams but as their hangovers wore off they got better.
We battled hard to keep the score line respectable but unfortunately we could stop them finding the back of the net.
The first goal came from them with Alice Hug retaliating with one of her infamous hits - that Graham deflected into the goal, despite it heading in the left bottom corner already.
The rest of the game we attacked but couldn’t seem to put the ball in the right places. South was awarded a Stroke which Alice willing stepped up to take but unfortunately aimed the same way the keeper fell.
Thanks to Rich Morgan who umpired the game with the rotating umpires from City. He got a little more than he was bargaining for in a Friendly game.
Everyone played well but every small mistake we made they capitalised on it. Especially with some higher level team mates available.
Well played to everyone involved.
Team played: John Benedikz, Ron Oren, Ian Glover, Julie Sadler, Wilco Dijkstra, Jack Chalk, Phil Crowhurst, Vicky Lavis, Siren Dabb, Graham McCulloch, James Raikes, Alice Hug
