Ely City Hockey Club Mixed Tournament 2008
Cambridge South have been invited to send a team to this year's Ely Mixed Tournament. Under the informal rule that clubs aren't allowed to use their own names, we are entered as the South Sea Island Coconuts. Bring your grass skirts, flower garlands and coconut bikinis to create that tropical vibe!

The evening of Friday 16th to Sunday 18th May
Location
Ely Outdoor Sports Association, Downham Road, Ely, CB6 2SH
Format
Teams are invited to arrive from the Friday evening to pitch tents and have a few preparatory drinks before matches start on Saturday.
The matches take place on three pitches: The Ely City Hockey Club astro; the Ely Community College astro (five minutes towards Ely on the Downham Road); and a few matches at the King's School astro on Barton Road. A "local rural chariot" (no, I don't know what that is either) will provide transport to the ECC pitch and a bus will shuttle across town to the King's School pitch.
Play on Saturday starts at 10am. Each team will play five games of twenty minutes each through the day against a random set of teams. Our matches are against:

Sunday is competition day: teams are split based on their results from the Saturday matches into a top Group A and a lower Group B. Each play for a separate award, with Group A for the "cup" and Group B for the "plate". Sunday's play should be finished around 5.30 this should allow players to get home fairly early in the evening.
Cost
£10 per person based on a squad of 14 (£140 per squad).
Facilities
Camping around the pitch is included in the price as well as toilet and M/F changing/showers (toilet paper is free while stocks last but recommend to bring your own as well!).
Food
A hot meal (chilli, with veggie option available) is provided on Saturday night, included in the entry fee.
There will also be a barbeque available during the weekend (yes, you will have to pay) which will be open late Saturday evening. Ely say they will be using a local butcher for the burgers, so no Tesco Economy nastiness!
A full English breakfast will again be available Sunday morning at a cost of £3.50.
Entertainment
There is a disco on Saturday night which is part of the entry fee. Yeah, party in the Fens!
