Ladies' 1sts beat City of Peterborough Ladies 3

The Ladies' 1s started brightly with some good running and sharp passing which was rewarded fairly early when Liles's cross found Alice in space at the top of the D, who swiftly put the ball into the back of the net. We created a number of chances and were perhaps unlucky not to score more. Peterborough had some success breaking down the middle of the pitch, but were mopped up well by the defence, including some great saves by Loopy.

In the second half we improved the press and made Peterborough work harder to get up the field. However they managed to play some nice possession hockey and put more sustained pressure on us, eventually levelling the scores. Bex on her first match back since injury had now got into her stride and marked her return with first a good run onto the post to turn a cross in, and then a perfectly angled strike from the top of the D which headed into the far corner of the goal agonisingly beyond the goalkeeper's outstretched leg.

Peterborough kept on making us work hard, and scored with a straight strike from a short corner. However the team stayed positive and worked well together to close out the match for the win.

Overall a really enjoyable game with hard work, good skills, and good cheer from everyone on the pitch. Thanks to all our supporters for coming to cheer us on.
