Men's 2nds beat Cambridge Nomads 2

The game started with a standard push back.

South had a fair few chances throughout the first half, good passing hockey all the way from the back created some good opportunities which were all but put away. South went in to half time feeling they should have been ahead. Some wise words again from Rick were taken on board and then immediately forgotten as the second half started. That said, the second half did start brightly with more chances being created by South. In usual 2’s style they thought it best to concede a goal as doing things in a straightforward way would just be boring. South then came back quickly as if forced to hit the target after more goalmouth scrambles with 2 fairly quick goals from Russ and Dave respectively. The moment of the match was yet to occur. Nearing the end of the match with South still needing a goal to settle the match the ball fell to Anns outside the D. He jinked inside the D before unleashing what has since been dubbed ‘the greatest strike of all time’, it went cannoning into the post. Not long after the final whistle went. The next problem came at teas with a number of South players burning their mouths on the pizza, this problem was overcome wisely by master tactician D.Nelson who used the ‘pick your piece early then wait for it to cool’ technique, a method that saw him reap the rewards. An honourable mention should be given to Troll who enthralled the team with conversation and videos about his new dog….
