L1 0-0 Newmarket Ladies 1

Kylie Beasley

The L1s had a rather eventful day out in Newmarket...

We knew this was going to be a tough match, but with a strong team we felt that we might just snatch a win. We played some of the best hockey I have seen this season and created lots of chances. However, with 13 minutes left on the clock things went horribly wrong. Kendra was running backwards, and fell over awkwardly, hitting her head off the ground. She had neck and back pain so an ambulance was called and we went off to A&E. A very tense few hours followed, and lots of tests were carried out. Thankfully the X-rays came back clear and a rather sore Kendra was allowed to go home. I can't describe the relief we all felt. Here are the important bits of information:

  • The first thing Kendra said upon her release was 'I'm going to get lemon, aren't I?'. I think she will rather suit the lemonsie!
  • Dr Diane had a very busy day. We are very lucky to have her!
  • The NHS is excellent
  • Serin has found a thousand ways of entertaining a toddler in a busy A&E waiting room. Its a shame it took us three hours to realise that we were sat opposite a childrens play room!
  • Great supporting play from Elaine, both in the match and in A&E
  • Young children are big fans of vending machine meals!
  • If you are ever in a spot of trouble, the South L1s are the people you would want around you.
