It’s tight at the top of division 3NW(S)… This was the final match of the season, and it was still unclear as to who was going to get 1st, 2nd and 3rd between South, City and Newmarket. The only way we could get promoted was for us to beat City, Newmarket to lose, and to improve our goal difference with Newmarket by 10 goals. Still, it was worth a go!

We had a strong team, it was a beautiful day, and we had everything to play for. Here are the important moments:

• Having Colin coaching on the sideline was amazing. Kim and Elaine tracked how much they ran, and covered 8 km each. I reckon we should invest in Garmins for all club members and anyone who runs less than 5 km in a match is fined!

• We started attacking strongly from the first whistle and were eventually rewarded with a strike from Jess, which was helped into the goal by a City defender. Great! 1-0.

• Having two subs and a coach on the side helped us roll on and off continuously. Kendra made crazy runs all over the place, further confusing the City defence.

• We are finally starting to run in diagonals and Georgie and Kim were all over the pitch causing havoc.

• At half time it was 1-0.

• We started strongly in the second half, quickly getting a short corner, from which Elaine dribbled round the City defence and calmly slotted into the back of the net. 2-0

• City weren’t going to let us get away with winning this easily though and mounted a counter attack, scoring. 2-1

• Loopy made some other amazing saves, keeping us in the game and winning her joint man of the match

• Alice had a great shot which was deflected into the goal off Kendra's bum! Apparently that isn’t allowed, so still 2-1.

• Naomi subbed back on in the last ten minutes, made a great run into space in the D, took a shot and scored a beauty. 3-1, match won!

• We finish the league season in second place, with just five points separating the top five teams, and undefeated since 2nd November.

• It's been a great season and I can’t believe it's over already.
