L2 1-3 March Town Ladies 1

Lou Walker

We approached this game with some anxiety, knowing that March beat our 3rds 11-2 last month. March are a strong team with some fast players and they certainly kept us on our toes. However, South held our own brilliantly. Everyone worked really hard, ran around and there was some great passing and overall teamwork.

March came close to scoring many times, but didn't, mainly thanks to some amazing saves by man of the match, Ali G. South got the first goal after Ann made a great run though the middle, dribbling through loads of March players to put in a ball for Jen, who scored.

Unfortunately March levelled the score soon after and at half time it was 1-1.

South were playing with eleven whilst March had two subs and in the second half that difference started to show. Everyone continued to work really hard and run loads, but legs were getting tired and March managed to get through and score a couple more.

Ali continued to make loads of spectacular saves, including tipping high shots over the top. Fiona and Pip were defending brilliantly and there was lots of great linking up on the right wing from Lora, Lucy and Lauren. Overall this was a great team performance and everyone should feel pleased with how they played.

Tea was chicken curry with rice, followed by eclairs. Plus popcorn whilst we waited for it. 5/5 - best tea this reporter has had this season (well apart from The Red Bull pizza of course!)
