Extract From My Diary - 'View From a Car Park'

Douglas Gibson

Saturday 1st March

I turned up at Milton Park and Ride at 10.00 (as we were supposed to meet at that time) to discover no-one there! Where was everyone? I didn't worry, however, or even decide to phone anyone. I just sat there and basked in the sunshine, eating an ice cream.

Turns out I was at the wrong side of town as I hadn't read my emails - oops!

So I went home and played hide and seek with myself instead.

A common theme of taking 10 men to the game seems to have emerged having read the M2s report. Luckily, however, the M4s travel with an entourage these days and so we were able to recruit a spectator into holding a hockey stick and joining in the game.

Winning has gotten boring now, so much so that such quotes as "3-1 is pretty poor", "3-1 feels like we lost!" and "that was a bad win" were flying round at teas. The M4s really have gotten complacent, and looking back at previous years it shows that they're quick to forget what it's like to lose! Coming off a four year 'negative goal-difference' streak to now being +33 GD, only having lost one league game this season and being guaranteed second in the league (eleven points clear of third).

I'm sure City 5s will put us back in our pre-2014 usual place next week...

Turning up at the wrong place for the meet on the opposite side of town, forcing the M4s to turn up late to St Ives with 10 men.
