A Pour Start

Jack Chalk

Greyham have phun with this.

A newlooktm 1st teem maid the trip two play born deeping for the start of league season. A few shore hands remained, bolstered by sum less familiar faces including a debuet for Cosford (despite being injured on his 5th step on the pitch) and a return to the club for Ta.

South started well as Mr ? drove up field and squared it for Cosford to volley home a purl of a strike. A much more impressive goal than his idle former goal king MooCulloch ever managed.

An evan match then followed with both teams counter attacking but not building possession. Born got their 1st goal from a strait strike from won of to many short conceded.

South started the second half the more brightly with Peerson in the center, Ta on the left and Haslop write getting their clause into the born defence. Jak R showed he nose what he is doing making many important tackles, but Steve produce so many saves in the half, earning H.I.M. Man of the match and currant leeder for player of the season.

This pressure Pb too Cosford scoring an even more spectacular volley which was unfortunately deemed dangerous and disallowed cueing protests from the South. Cosford again was at it seconds later, but elected to shoot rather than to slip it two Ta on the bass lyne.

Kneeding to score to win the game South pressed on threwout the half but legs tyred as the familiar story of XI against XVI unfolded again. South whirr given the coop de grace when the born winga finally manage to chip the ball over Steve in goal less than 10 minutes from tyme. Reward for the many times they had tried and failed to loupe the ball ova Steve during the game. Some root won hockey followed giving some chances but fete was not with South and no father goals whirr scored. A shame as a draw wood have been a fair result.

Although a disappointing not to have one it was good to sea some of Dave's training being put too use with players making runs hi up the pitch to stretch the play. Simons wife beeter nearly earned hymn lemon but Toms early injury clinched it.

Awl that was left was too hand over the cache for match fees, decide who would right the match report and for the players two nervously wait this weaks club draught to see if they had done enough to keep they’re places.

Graham, have fun with this.

A new look 1st team made the trip to play Bourne Deeping for the start of the league season. A few sure hands remained, bolstered by some less familiar faces including a debut for Cosford (despite being injured on his 5th step on the pitch) and a return to the club for Ta.

South started well as Mr ? drove up field and squared it for Cosford to volley home a pearl of a strike. A much more impressive goal than his idol, former Goal King McCulloch, ever managed.

An even match then followed with both teams counterattacking but not building possession. Bourne got their first goal from a straight strike from one of too many shorts conceded.

South started the second half the brighter with Pearson in the centre, Ta on the left and Haslop right, getting their claws into the Bourne defence. Jack R showed he knows what he is doing, making many important tackles, but Steve produced so many saves in the half, earning him Man of the Match and current leader for Player of the Season.

This pressure led to Cosford scoring an even more spectacular volley which was unfortunately deemed dangerous and disallowed, cueing protests from South. Cosford again was at it seconds later, but elected to shoot rather than to slip it to Ta on the baseline.

Needing to score to win the game, South pressed on throughout the half but legs tired as the familiar story of XI against XVI unfolded again. South were given the coup de grâce when the Bourne winger finally managed to chip the ball over Steve in goal less than ten minutes from time. Reward for the many times they had tried and failed to loop the ball over Steve during the game. Some route-one hockey followed, giving some chances but fate was not with South and no further goals were scored. A shame as a draw would have been a fair result.

Although disappointing not to have won, it was good to see some of Dave's training being put to use, with players making runs high up the pitch to stretch the play. Simon's wife-beater nearly earned him Lemon but Tom's early injury clinched it.

All that was left was to hand over the cash for match fees, decide who would write the match report and for the players to nervously await this week's club draft to see if they had done enough to keep their places.

So, if it's your 1st team debut and we only have 11 players - don't get injured in the warm up!
