Skeggness ...

James Mathews

Pre match

  • Paul S bails late with illness; Dave is traded for Tom R with the M2s; and Joe opts to plays M4s at home.
  • Nathan makes his comeback after his broken collarbone.
  • Ian got stopped by police on his way to the meet for talking into his coffee cup while driving.
  • Neil’s entire lower leg is still yellow and bruised from Dave’s hit last week.
  • Neil’s car takes a shortcut through the fens to beat Jan’s car to the Little Chef.
  • Tom, Charlie and Nathan have Olympic Breakfasts. No-one braves the Royal Breakfast (an Olympic Breakfast plus a 6oz sirloin steak).
  • We learn Alford have a brand new goalkeeper.

Match

  • 1-0 James M feeds Rob who puts it past the keeper.
  • 2-0 Rob feeds James M who does likewise.
  • 3-0 Tom R picks the ball up in midfield, runs at goal and no-one tries to tackle him before scoring.
  • 4-0 Rob hits a short corner low at goal which deflects off an opposition stick/foot into the roof of the net. After the umpires consult, the goal is given.

Half time

  • 5-0 Rasmus crosses from the byline and it deflects off an Alford foot into the goal.
  • 6-0 James M feeds Rob who scores with a trademark reverse hit.
  • 7-0 After some goalmouth action, their keeper saves, the ball comes out to James M near the top of the D and is hit into an empty net.
  • 8-0 Nathan’s cross/shot towards the post is kicked in by the opposition.
  • Alford had the last touch on three of our goals.
  • Charlie got bored in defence and made some surging runs forward.
  • Jason touched the ball twice?

Post match

  • Tom R gets MoM with three votes. James M and Ian both get two, while Rob, Jan, Charlie and Rasmus get one each in a good team performance.
  • Dave M (injuring Neil last week and playing 2s at home this week), James M (throwing his water bottle off at half time and accidentally hitting Ian on the head) and Joe (playing 4s) contest lemon, with Joe winning on a tiebreaker.
  • Teas were curry sauce and chips – must be a northern thing?
