A Lovely, Sunny Winter's Day

Jan Brynjolffssen

9.20am - Pitch inspector Neil texts Horncastle to say that, despite press reports suggesting weathergeddon, there is no more than a light frost. This is thawing rapidly and will be long gone before mid-afternoon. Match is therefore on as scheduled.

9:30am - Horncastle text Neil back to inform him that all their drivers have dropped out, and they will unfortunately have to forfeit the game.

Oh well. The likely three point deduction for our putative visitors at least moves the 4ths out of the relegation zone.

Instead we gathered those 3s and 4s interested (plus a 1st teamer hanging around after their match) and played a 6-a-side practice session.

Goalkeeper without portfolio - Jason

Team Green - Neil, David B, Paul, Jelley, Owen, Nathan

Team 'White'* - Jan, Douglas, Ian M, Tim, Simon T, Rob

* - As any Cambridge resisdent can tell you, Newton showed white light was made up of all colours over 300 years ago. So this was a perfect sensibly and not in the least bit confusing team name.

Final Score 6-5 to Team Green. Winner via a golden goal (Owen iirc). And the weather was beautiful, 5-6 degrees and sunny throughout.
