Counting to Eleven

Howard Steed

After several re-counts we came to the conclusion that we had eleven players including double-ups (thanks to Coops and Tom Anns) on the pitch and were able to send Tom Rosselli home for an early bath!

Despite early pressure from a youthful Bourne Deeping side we battled hard and kept the score down to a respectable 1-0 until the last short corner of the first half which unfortunately they converted.

We came out fighting in the second half with everything still to play for until Jelley caught the full force of a James Siddorns 16 and had to leave the pitch briefly to recover his composure. Bourne Deeping immediately capitalised on the weakened South midfield to score their third goal. Despite some spectacular saves from Shahzad, which undoubtedly helped to keep the opposition's tally down to single figures, they were able grab a couple more goals before the final whistle.

A solid performance from the South M4s today which is in no way reflected in the scoreline. We can go into our last pre-Xmas fixture with City next weekend with confidence.
