Potters Bar Mens 1

Taking it to the League Leaders

Cambridge South travelled through the snowy conditions to a high-flying Potters Bar, who headed up the league table. We were indebted to the hosts as they had spent some time earlier in the morning clearing the snow from the pitch with brooms to make it playable.

Both sides started sharply and the pace of the game was high. South took the lead through a well worked goal, with debutant Nick Boddy driving up the right wing before pivoting across midfield through the ever-lively Tom K. The ball was worked up the opposite flank, with Pearson on hand at the back post to take a first time 'shot' which headed back across goal for Harry Chalk to put away past a stranded keeper.

Potters Bar worked up momentum into the game and got an equaliser shortly before half-time, as the ball bounced around within the D and was hit in midair by the hosts' striker.

The second half was much like the first, with free flowing hockey from both sides. A draw probably a fair result, which gives South a crucial extra point as they continue to focus on remaining in the tight league.
