Full Hand In The Fens

Saskia Molekamp

Despite Wisbech being one of our furthest away matches, the Cambridge South L3s were out in force. We had the maximum sixteen on the team, showing the success the club has had this season in recruiting new players.

Our defence had a shake-up this Saturday due to previous injuries but stayed strong nevertheless thanks to Nicola's consistency, Chani's determination and Iona's (brand new to the club this week!) energetic skills. We conceded only one goal in the first half, and there was fantastic play by our mids, with Pippa doing some great intercepting, Louisa getting great sprints down the wing and Liz and Eimear succeeding in getting past the Wisbech defence. Our passing and maintaining possession of the ball was also much improved.

We started the second half well, with two short corners (but alas no goals) however there was a slight hiccup in the second half when it was spotted that we had 12 on the pitch (hard to keep count when we had so many subs!). Two more goals were conceded in the second half but this match definitely saw us improve in getting the ball past the midfielders/defence and into the D. Hopefully this means our next match will see some more goals.

Allowing 12 on the pitch in the second half! Whoops.
