Fun Saturday Outing to Newmarket

Bex Hawkes

Firstly, I must report that for once there were no hospital incidents - this was probably the reason for such a fun day out in nearly-sunny-trying-to-be-sunny-but-failing Suffolk.

The game started a bit steadily. We were tentative to begin with - I say we, because Duracell Kim is rarely tentative with her endless endurance and boundless energy! It soon picked up and the goals began. Now, I have to be honest, for the life of me I have no idea what order they came in. I was not concentrating enough, apologies. Had I realised I was to be given this match report task I would have made a mental note. So, the following report is how I viewed the match rather than reality…

Seven goals occurred (and this time Lou C had a clean sheet. Well, by the look of her knees we weren’t surprised nothing was even going into our D in this week – note here: Julie, stop the copy dives, we need you in one piece). Sophie took two goals, both set up beautifully by the midfielders (like the ambiguity? It continues…) Laura also took two goals, again set up by beautiful runs and speedy passes – note here that the tally should have been a few more perhaps – especially when the goalie pootled out of goal for a moment – but less said there the better. The lemonsie says it all. The last three, by not least three, were scored by our very own….let’s hear it for … the crowd goes mad … yes you guessed it, Jess Robins!

Enough of these forwards stealing all the glory this week. Without a devoted midfield comprised of Polly, Kim, Bex, Emma x2 and a wall of backs with Diane, Lou, Serin and Julie, none of this would have been possible… and Loops, well you probably could have gone for lunch in Wolverhampton after all.
