Meet the New Boss. Same as the Old Boss

Laurie McKenzie-Rosselli

Cath temporarily reinstated as captain in Lottie & Hannah's absence;
Classic pre-match, "This is a winnable game" - check.
Hungover - check (along with most of the team).
Lemon award - Escaped somehow…

The opposition's lethargic warm up lulled us into a false sense of security. However, it was off to a strong start for South, winning several short corners. An exceptional lifted first strike from Naomi curled back down to making a very rewarding impact with the back board, taking it to 1-0 to South.

Sadly, St Neots quickly countered with a short of their own. Poor Emma saw a lot of action in quick succession, resulting in her winning a well deserved MOM later on. During this time they put another two past us by working it round the D.

3-1 to St Neots at half time. Cath failed to bring jelly babies… Clearly the cause of our eventual downfall.

The second half saw much better defence from us. It also saw Dani, supposedly working with Pip to mark their very good No. 4, but only succeeded in interlocking sticks & involuntary sitting on the astro. Combined with her general attempts to take out players, this made the lemon contest a close run thing… Dani only one vote behind the eventual winner.

An unfortunate call against Meg resulted in Emma getting her first experience of defending a penalty flick. This made the final score 4-1 to the home team.

Extensive pre-planning of lifts was all in vain, as Rebecca was still all snuggled up in bed at the designated meet time at Long Road.

For still being asleep at the meet time.
