A Great Start to the Season

Lottie Alves

After a slowish start to the match, Cambridge South L2s started to take control with some great runs and triangle passes. The ball seemed to be in the opposition's half the majority of the time. Just before half time Ely made a good break and were able to slip past the defence and score the first goal of the match.

During the second half South seemed to play like a new team with more confidence and a real desire to win. After winning a short, an amazing strike by Laurie McKenzie straight into the left corner evened the score, shortly followed by a second goal scored by Cara Jager. Although the ball stayed in the opposition's third for most of the second half, we couldn't get it past the Ely defence and the score stayed at 2-1.

A great start for the L2s with out first win, and great play from all involved, although the score didn't reflect the level of possession.
