Men's 2nds thrash Cambridge City 5

A stonking team performance against local rivals promoted with CSHC 2nds last season, saw the home side put seven past a competent, but ultimately outclassed City team. Consistently purposeful play using the width of the pitch well gained reward from early on, with Jackson scoring the first with a rasping shot following a well practiced Greaves/Korstanje short corner routine.

The second came from open play with the quietly dominant Vincent Korstanje finding Nick Wong, whose blistering pace was a constant threat, on the right. Wong crossed precisely to Andy Lewis who turned and shot neatly past the keeper.

At 2-0 the game was still fairly even, but South upped the pressure with three more goals in quick succession from Jackson (close range after Korstanje found Wong on the right to cross to Jackson waiting close in), Lewis (long range shot following move down the centre), and Greaves (trademark near post routine from a short corner). By this stage the game had opened up, to allow all the CSHC players to contribute to attacks, although Poole was required on three occasions to make sharp saves to retain our status as the league's meanest defence.

Man of the Match Jackson got his third and fourth goals in almost identical fashion with short range efforts from Greaves crosses from right wing to seal a memorable victory, with no weak links, played in an excellent spirit throughout.
