Thanks, Harriet!

We all knew it was going to be a tough match, with Bury St Edmunds having lost only one game so far this season; the same team had also previously beaten our L2s, 3-1. It became apparent after overhearing some changing room chat from the opposition that Bury felt they had a guaranteed nine goal score but little did they know that this was exactly what the L3s needed in order to come out ready to put up a fight!

The match started with extremely strong play from both teams. Bury managed to score within the first three minutes but this was quickly followed by a determined Ash driving the ball up the pitch and smacking it straight in the goal, meaning South equalised in the first six minutes.

The match stayed at one-one for a good while, with South playing some brilliant defence with some amazing saves by Loopy, but Bury managed to score another two goals just before half time.

After half time Bury gained control of the ball and scored their fourth and final goal in the first five minutes. However, South’s stubbornness meant they couldn’t get near the goal again and we were getting good chances for goals ourselves.

Just before the whistle, Bury were pushing up the pitch and managed to secure what felt like a hundred short corners in row (probably only about 6…). However, South stayed vigilant and prevented them from scoring each time.

So although we may have lost 4-1, it's still a triumph for the L3s and shows that we’re really improving and moving forward as a team. Bring on the next game!

Lastly, congratulations to Loopy for her 200th league game played for Cambridge South!

Demonstrating some amazing left handed dribbling skills, and, of course, the goal.

Attempting to put on shin pads whilst on the pitch after the match had started and having to be subbed off within the first two minutes with a shin pad hanging off her leg.
