South were looking to bounce back after a narrow but disappointing loss away at Norwich last week. This week's visitors to Long road were fierce local rivals, March Town.

In a week where yet another MWon player was hit by the injury curse sweeping the side and with many key players missing, perhaps at hearing the shock of the US electing a ginger haired imbecile as president, South had a squad of twelve with Dom Nelson being called up from the 2nd team for his 2016 M1 debut!

Warming up in conditions far better suited to a family of otters rather than a team of hockey players, it became apparent that our squad of twelve was actually a squad of ten.

Fortunately, JP turned up five minutes before push back but everyone was waiting on the expected arrival of Spiky Mike: alas, Mike didn't make the start of the game, so South lined up with a bare eleven.

With players playing out of position and Pearson still recovering from the disappointment of KFC not having a breakfast menu, South were under immense pressure but the back five of Stu, Archie, Paresh, Tom and Behave held firm, with Jase in goal making some important saves.

Sadly this pressure eventually paid off and March found themselves 1-0 up at the break.

The half time team talk came and yet Mike still didn't appear; perhaps he thought the game was at March, perhaps he was upset that Trump was the new president, or perhaps he was out buying a matching pair of Astro boots - who knows?

The second half saw roles reversed, with South now dominating the game but not reaping any rewards for their efforts, despite the dominating runs of Stu Rimmer down the middle of the pitch.

Sadly a sucker punch came whn South piled too many men forward and got caught out on a counter attack, with the March centre forward duly rounding Jase before slotting into an empty net.

This took the stuffing out of South and March, sadly comfortable, played out the rest of the game to secure the three points.

Hands were shook with the opposition but still no sign of Mike. The mystery of Mike's no-show earned him Lemon of the Match, with Rich picking up the Man of the Match gong.
