Notes from the Defensive Line II

Serin Dabb

What a stellar game to watch. With the best seat in the house, I had the chance to watch our forwards work like a team playing at the end of the season. Opportunity upon opportunity was created by our front line from the start of the match and, as we picked up tempo, it became only a matter of time. The first goal came soon enough and it was followed by seven more with epic consistency. I believe the opposition called time on the match before it was actually up.

Naomi acted as an excellent feeder (of balls) from the centre out to the wings. Louisa, out of her usual position on the left, positioned herself perfectly on left post. In the middle, Roisin, Emma-Rose, Dani and Hannah provided strength and legs. The real stars however were our two goal scorers, double hat-tricks-are-not-enough Hazel and Kendra with four apiece. I can't even remember all the people that warrant the assists but the top of the circle pass to Hazel on the right with a controlled punt in worked a treat on multiple occasions.

Shout outs to my fellow defenders, newcomer Sarah C (yes, please come back) and returning to hockey Ellie Raffan. As a note, two returned double mums - a first for the club? Could. Not. Tell.

No shout out for Lou C, our peerless L1s' captain who subbed herself onto the back line in the second half for some support and promptly conceded a short corner. Silver lining though Lou - a Lemon of the Match win which didn't involve diving on the ground.

And thanks Jack - excellent management! And pre-game plan, Dani.
