MV 1-2 Peterborough Town Mens Veterans

A good competitive game played at a fast pace. The first half was fairly well balanced, with Peterborough scoring seconds before the halftime whistle.

Cambridge South equalised early in the second half from a good move down the left which saw the ball move to and fro between Geoff Butcher and Roger Craigen several times and resulted in a final pass back to Geoff, who slipped it between the keeper and the left-hand post.

Peterborough then took the lead again with a shot that deflected into the goal off the post. In spite of Peterborough pressurising the South circle the defence held firm with excellent performances from Roger Watson in goal, Steve Garwood, Dave Carswell and Malcolm Taylor.

For the last ten minutes South managed to dominate the game, with Piyush Jani and Geoff Butcher controlling the midfield. This pressure resulted in a series of short corners but unfortunately the equalising goal failed to materialise.
