Men's 2nds beat St Neots 3

CSHC 2nds expected a tough game against high flyers, St Neots 3rds, and so it proved. The home team started purposefully, with good passing moves through all routes. This was rewarded by an early goal from the lively Dan Adlington. He took the ball into the opposition D with Creed acting as decoy and, after his first shot came back off the keeper, made no mistake with the rebound.

South dominated the rest of the first half, but were caught napping by a St Neots free hit which went to an unmarked forward, who skillfully flicked the ball over the otherwise immaculate Tim Poole in goal.

Apart from this the home defence had a firm grip, with Andy Bleach constantly turning defence into attack with well timed tackles and forceful runs and Rob Garrett his usual quick thinking and impassable self at sweeper. South grabbed the lead once more immediately before half time as a typical Korstanje thunderbolt from a short corner was blocked only for the lurking Greaves to snaffle the ball up and slot it into the net from close range.

Although South continued to dominate possession, St Neots started to come back into the game, and equalised again from a short corner with a hard shot giving the unsighted goalkeeper no chance. But the home team wouldn't give up, and got a deserved winner ten minutes from full time as Matt Murray snuck in and prodded the ball into goal from a yard or so after a frantic melee.

Everyone played well, individually and as a team, but Dan Adlington got the Man of the Match honours for his confident display leading the forward line, looking dangerous whenever he got the ball, which was often.
