Men's 2nds draw with St Ives 4

South, with a reshaped team due to availability problems, dominated the early stages of an open game, with Fleck and Creed setting up attack after attack, but were unable to capitalise due to lack of that killer touch in the D. The inevitable happened when St Ives got a breakaway goal after twenty minutes. South didn't give up and were rewarded right at the end of the first half when John Greaves managed to tuck the ball away from his customary two yards after James Pope evaded the advancing defence to cross following a short corner.

The pattern continued in the second half, with most of the pressure coming from the away team and a number of good short corners, which nearly all provided shots. Sadly both Creed and Lewis were repeatedly unlucky to see their efforts whistle past the post, or be blocked by the giant St Ives keeper. Andy Lewis eventually got a deserved goal with an unstoppable shot rocketing into the net from another short corner.

Unfortunately South were unable to hold on to the lead and St Ives got another breakaway goal past their remodelled defence to equalise. The game ended with both sides seeking a winner and South in particular had further chances but had to be content with a draw to cement their position just behind the leading pack of 5NW.

For his usual goal poaching, and string of crosses.
