Much ado about nothing

Nev Warren

The second of the round-robin finals nights provided an encounter that thanks to Nomads winning both of their matches was a dead rubber.  The reward for both sides was a play-off against each other after another game off.  Message for the team put by Captain Nev Warren was "Conserve ourselves and don't over exert!."

Mr Toynton in goal took these words very literally in the first half as speculative efforts from the edge of the circle found their way nestled inside the goal he was protecting.  The first strike was a looping slow shot into the near post, followed shortly by a more fierce cross/shot that missed every player but the back post.

After some more of the Captain's choice "Chilli Doritos" at halftime, South edged back into the game with a good team goal on the brink of half time.

The defence took their chance to have a break next for South and Walden gladly accepted with two more added before time was called.  The display was a bit disjointed and needed better for the play-off decider, to come out on top.
