Frosty Festive Frolics

Sarah Holland

Twas 2 weeks before Christmas when lots of ladies south, gathered to play hockey despite the frost.

The face paint was applied by Maria with care, in the hope that the frost would soon disappear.

When out in the D there arose such a clatter, '3s!!!' was yelled, now on with the matter. Triangles of play and some lovely one-twos, lots of attacks and some brilliant purple moves.

The game started swiftly, 2 goals straight away. The trend it continued, more goals came out way. The 4s battled valiantly, some scary breakthroughs, kept at bay by the defenders and our goalkeeper's only move!

Goals were scored from passes way across the back, using the new entry points and some short corner thwacks. The forwards and mids worked hard to score, ending 17-0, we couldn't ask for more.

Thanks to the fours for a lovely fun game and to the band of supporters we wish you the same. 'Well played' said to all as we walked out of sight. 'Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!' (at the social!)

ED: MOM votes were spread across the team, with 2 for for Jess (lovely goals); 2 for Jenny, 2 for Maria (good runs in defence); one for Olivia & one for Kath (more lovely goals), but the ultimate winners with 3 votes was Dani (goals again & great work rate). LOM had almost as good a spread; with single votes for Jess (no base layers in -2), Louise ("did nothing" - self nomination I believe?) & Kath (worst throw EVER), but it was tie with 3 votes each for Jenny (falling over to land sat upright, legs splayed like some creepy life size doll) & Tuffers (rather over confident the game would be frozen off, over indulged on the drinks last night, requiring an emergency exit to the ladies at half time to rid herself of any remaining excel alcohol).
