M5 Conspiracy

Andy Thomas

Unknown conspirators re-arranged the planned 12.37 Long Road pushback to a 12.30 Coldham's Common pushback. Despite being excellently executed - even arranging for the L2s to play at Long Road at the same time - nonetheless, a full squad including subs pushed back at 12.30 against Nomads in high spirits (or so I assume). In fact, only one person was successfully fooled by this prank.

There were a number of good runs, and good passes around midfield and up to the forwards. Balls from the sixteen were received by players making effective runs. In fact, this game saw some excellent play from a number of players, and so Man of the Match votes were spread thinly, with five different players receiving votes.

Oliver Weston had another fantastic game up front. No conversions this time, but a number of shots, including one stopped by the keeper just in front of the line.

Alan and Ky were playing some "end to end" hockey, playing in both Ds. I understand that Ky wanted his second goal for the club. Ben made some terrific saves, without him I'm sure the score-line would have been much worse.

Shaun from the Nomads deserves a mention for his enthusiasm. He and Olly W headbutted; he intercepted a pass from Alex L with his groin; and hit a ball which lifted up off Luke B's stick and took out his thumb.

However, it was David B that quite rightly earned Man of the Match for some unstoppable defending.

A number of different people were voted Lemon of the Match*, but Andy T took the hit, in a tragic miscarriage of justice.

"Unstoppable" defending. David Bridge? More like David Wall!

Andy Thomas
Lemon of the Match

Slightly late from his work (located 10 metres from the pitch), though picked up the slack very well!
