Super end to the season

Kim Cooil

The ladies ones had their last match of the season on a Tuesday evening. It had a different feel and the intensity was high under the floodlights.

The game started evenly with Spalding and South both having chances. We received penalty corners both for and against us. The forwards of Alice, Alice, Flix, Izzy and Alison were all working hard, creating more height than we have had in previous games, as well as having opportunities at goal. Unfortunately, despite South looking stronger, it was Spalding who scored first. Fortunately we battled hard, with excellent running from Hannah and Emily in the half-back positions and equalized quickly. Half time.

If we can play like we did in the second half, we will tear teams apart next year. We passed, we ran off the ball, we had height, we kept possession and we scored - three times. Two for both Alice's. Also worth mentioning the amazing run and cross from Alison for Alice to slot in on the far post.

Always classy, and slightly nervous to deal with Cantabs alarm system, we finished with pizza and cake in the men's changing room. Winners. To finish fourth, the first season after being promoted, is something we should be really proud of. Looking forward to finishing even higher next season!! Big thanks to Dave for coaching us all season and the girls for working so hard.
