Pre-Season Friendly Fun

Maddy Barker

With clear skies ahead, the Ladies 1s left Cambridge in search of a win at Sandy for a 1.30pm push back. It was on arrival that Maddy got Lemon for parking in a residential estate beside the Sandy pitch, instead of in the main car park.

The pitch, befitting of the town's name, started the ball movement slow (the complete opposite to Long Road) but of course our ladies could adapt, and adapt they did. After the first training session of the season on Thursday the girls were pumped. The L1s started their attack strong, with the first half producing two goals, one from Robyn McLean and one by Katie Gibson. Shefford & Sandy fought back and it was two-one at the half time whistle.

After an inspiring team talk from the newly-formed captaining duo of Robs and Blythe, the girls headed into the second half with a game plan. Coming back stronger than ever, the team fought hard, really showing their great skills and the commitment to win. As a reward they came away with two more goals from Amalia and Laura. A few cheeky aerials were thrown in by captain and man of the match Robyn McLean. By the final whistle the girls drove back with a 4-1 victory.

Great work by the ladies :)
