Men's 2nds draw with Alford & District 2

South needed to arrest the slide seen in the last couple of games, against a mid table team whom they had already taken a point from earlier in the season.

In an even, hard fought first half, the away team grabbed the lead as Raphael Mis slotted home a well struck penalty flick after good pressure close to goal. Alford equalised soon after, as the South defence were unable to clear, leaving the forward with an easy chance to score past debutant keeper Tom James, who had a solid game throughout behind the decisive John Benedikz at sweeper.

Raph Mis soon scored his second to restore South's lead, with a thunderbolt effort straight from a short corner.

After half time, Alford pressurised constantly and were able to equalise once more from a well worked short corner move. South kept plugging away, with the energetic Chris Clegg proving a constant thorn in the home side in central midfield and Mark Reilly buzzing about at great speed, often getting the ball when others would have given up.

Skipper Greaves managed a 5.7 score dive to the ground with an achilles tendon injury near the end.

It was pleasing to see South keeping their heads, tackling better, and getting the ball up into attack more frequently.
