Men's 1sts beat St Neots 3

Cambridge South Men’s 1sts, sponsored by PwC, made light of the absence of their inspirational captain, Chris Baker, for the trip to St Neots.

The home side rarely threatened and the South keeper Steve Parker didn’t touch the ball the entire game. Even so, it took South a while to get into their stride and only at the end of the first half did they mount a sustained attack on the St Neots goal.

The first goal arrived soon after the break, Kevin Rowland flicking the ball into the goal from close range, and after this the home side’s defence lost some of its resolve and goals came more easily. Rob Garrett continued his good run of form with a close range finish, Stuart Creed gathered his first league goal of the season from a short corner rebound and Kevin Rowland added the fourth in the final minute with a trademark reverse stick sweep into the far corner of the goal.
