Men's 1sts thrash Long Sutton 2

Free-scoring Cambridge South, proudly sponsored by PwC, demolished a lacklustre Long Sutton side on Saturday. Long Sutton were unbeaten at home prior to this match, with only two points dropped on their home turf this season, and were riding high in fourth spot in the 3NW table. But this record was in serious danger after only eight minutes of hockey, by which time South had hit four goals. The pick of the bunch was the opener, an unstoppable reverse stick strike from Lukas Snetler that flew into the roof of the net.

Long Sutton pulled a goal back after the break but South responded immediately with two more goals, including one from Robert Garrett following excellent work down the right by Russell Johnson, who was making his league debut for the side. Other goals came from Chris Baker (twice), Lukas Snetler (twice), Mike Thorogood and Eliot Read.

The result consolidates South's position in seventh place in the table, well-placed for a comfortable mid-table finish this season.
