Men's 4ths beat City of Peterborough 8

Cambridge South 4ths, sponsored by PwC, came up against another young and quick side, but South turned up with a strong team. After an initial settling period, South began to dominate possession and created a number of openings but failed to put them away, mostly due to good goal keeping by Peterborough keeper, but also some rusty finishing.

The first goal eventually came through some slick passing between James Pope and Joe Williamson, culminating in Seb Robins putting the ball into the net. The South defence was rarely troubled in the opening period. South was even more dominant in the second half and there was even less for the defence to do; Shahbaz Ali, South's keeper started dancing on the pitch to keep himself entertained!

South eventually got the second goal that provided the necessary cushion. The goal came from a move down the right and was pushed into the net by Tom Rosselli, at the second attempt. After that South created chance after chance and Tom scored 2 more goals to complete his first hat trick of the season. A particularly special hat trick as dad drove all the way to Peterborough to watch the match.

South could easily have scored more goals, but the final score was 0-4.

Marshalling the midfield and his boundless energy.

Lemon of the Match

Got in the way of goalscoring opportunities. Though if the skipper had advised his teammates of the reasons for the late withdrawl of a certain player (naming no names, he knows who he is!), then the vote might not have gone against him. The player involved left his trainers and stick in his home village, so couldn't get hold of them in time for the match. When offered a spare stick it was refused on the grounds that "Sorry, can't, not in these shoes, it feels like I'm trying to play in stilettos", which leaves one to wonder when exactly he has tried such footwear for hockey?
