Men's 1sts beat Cambridge Nomads 2

Proudly sponsored by PwC, Cambridge South fought hard and earned a valuable 3 points against local rivals Nomads 2's. In this tight game of few clear-cut chances, it was the away side that were able to find the sharper cutting edge with 3 well-taken goals.

Lukas Snetler opened the scoring in the first half with an excellent reverse stick shot inside a crowded D. Nomads equalised with a flick, before Michael Thorogood restored the away side's advantage with a cracking shot from the top of the D.

This gave Cambridge South the lead at half-time but they were made to work hard to keep that lead in the second half as Nomads came out fighting. Their final ball often let them down, though, and the handful of short-corners that were won were squandered.

Cambridge South gradually began to assert themselves on the game as the match wore on, and they increased their lead with 5 minutes left when Robert Garrett rounded the 'keeper and slid the ball into the goal from a tight angle. This result puts South fifth in the table and increases their winning streak to 3 games.
