Men's 3rds draw against City of Peterborough 7

This was not a match for the purist. A scrappy nil-nil draw which saw Peterborough defend aggressively for 70 minutes, backed up by a good goalkeeper. Together they kept out the few shots that Cambridge South 3rds, sponsored by PwC, managed including some fine long-range efforts from Andy Lewis, Paul South and Stuart Creed, by one means and another.

Peterborough did have some good breaks, but CSouth defence was also up to the challenge. In particular James Lee's heroic stops from short corner moves time and again, and Shahbaz Ali's increasingly confident goalkeeping.

In the end it seemed that if the game had continued all night a goal wouldn't come, although CSouth had some panicky moments just to keep things interesting for the crowd.
