Men's 4ths v : Awaiting Result

It was a simple case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with CSHC 4ths having lead 2-0 early in the second half and Ely having had a man sin binned.

South started the brighter in the first half and the whole half went by without a single short corner being conceded. South edged the first half, but could not convert the dominance into goals.

A couple of minutes into the second half, Dom Nelson weaved past a couple of defenders and found himself unchallenged and duly put South 1-0 up. A few minutes later, a run from Dave Aston down the left went past two or three Ely players and then crossed the ball to Rob Barton who, with the goal keeper anticipating the trade mark reverse shot, completely fooled the keeper by simply tapping it past the keeper's right using his strong side. 2-0.

Ely's back men then started coming into the attack and tried to get back into the game. Although not under pressure, South's inexperience told as Ely managed to scramble a goal back. Even though they had a man sin binned, Ely managed to win a penalty from a short corner which they scored in the top corner.

With the score at 2-2, both sides tried to win the game. James Raikes managed to hit the post but it was Ely who snatched a late scrambled goal in the dying seconds.
