Ladies' 1sts beat Newmarket 1

Cambridge South gained a confidence building win over Newmarket in Division 1 of the Cambridge League. Both teams started strongly but South had more of the pressure and were soon in front when Emma Clarke flicked home from a rebound.

Excellent saves from the Newmarket keeper then frustrated the South forwards but another rebound after twenty minutes, this time from Kate Nustedt's short corner strike, made it two for both South and Emma Clarke. However Newmarket did not give up and pulled one back just before half time with a deflected shot from a short corner.

The second half saw some excellent and at times desperate defending from both sides and the result was in doubt until five minutes from the end, when Kate Nustedt dummied the Newmarket keeper and scored with a powerful strike to make the final result 3-1.
